Semiramide - La Signora Regale
A fascinating selection of music dealing with Semiramis, the historical and legendary Queen.
Fifteen rare opera arias & scenes from 18th century until 19th century, most of them never recorded before: the very first version of Bel raggio lusinghier by Rossini and a previously unknown Preghiera by Manuel García, first Almaviva in Rossini's Barbiere and father of the well-known opera singers Maria Malibran and Pauline Viardot-García.
The Album includes the famous scene from 'La morte di Semiramide' (attributed to Sebastiano Nasolini), sang by Isabella Colbran in August 1815 (Naples, Teatro San Carlo), in which are contained large sections composed by Gioachino Rossini, completely unknown before this recording was released in 2014.
A Consonarte production for DHM/Sony Music Entertainment
